Expertise

Miranda Bordignon is a senior associate in the firm’s commercial litigation and dispute resolution team working closely with Andrew Green, Sam Bond and Kelly Powers. Miranda has worked on a diverse range of matters including contractual disputes, corporations matters, consumer law claims, building disputes, and matters relating to trade practices, trusts, employment law, breaches of directors duties and shareholder disputes. Miranda has extensive experience in litigation in all Victorian jurisdictions as well as in the High Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia, the NSW Supreme Court, NSW Court of Appeal and the Victorian Building Appeals Board.

Miranda joined SBA Law in 2017 after practicing in the corporate and the commercial litigation groups at Norton Gledhill as articled clerk, solicitor and senior associate.

Education

Miranda holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science and a Diploma of German from the University of Melbourne.

Experience

Recent matters involving Miranda include:

  • Sovereign Point Pty Ltd v Gu [2019] FCA 1753: Successfully obtaining default judgment and defending a rehearing application (Sovereign Point Pty Ltd v Gu (No 2) [2020] FCA 1377) in a Federal Court proceeding for a joint venturer in a Melbourne property development.
  • Assisting with a high profile constitutional case before the High Court of Australia sitting as the Court of Disputed Returns regarding the eligibility of former Senator Bob Day.
  • Assisting to defend and resolve a County Court proceeding between a significant Melbourne based food and beverage supplier and one of its former manufacturers.
  • Successfully obtaining default judgment and proceeding to an assessment of damages in a Supreme Court proceeding between a quarry operator and a former employee.
  • Obtaining urgent interlocutory injunctions to preserve access rights to a family property in a Supreme Court proceeding between members of a wealthy Melbourne family.

Miranda has been a director of the Wye River Surf Lifesaving Club since 2008 and is the current Vice President.
