Professional Background

Peta became a Partner of the firm on 1 January 2012 and practices in the commercial litigation section of SBA Law. Peta commenced working as a lawyer in 2000 and her expertise includes acting for landowners and other affected parties in compulsory acquisition matters, commercial litigation and dispute resolution. Peta has acted in compulsory acquisition matters for private individuals, large and small private companies and family run businesses. Peta has practised at all jurisdiction levels from the Magistrates’ Court to the Federal Court of Australia.

Peta is committed to achieve the best legal and commercial results for her clients. She prides herself on providing prompt advice which considers the strengths and weaknesses of claims, defences and potential outcomes.

Peta provides tutorials in Property Law at the University of Melbourne in the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning.

Peta has also recently been appointed a board director of Women’s Health West which is an organisation committed to improving equality and justice for women living in Melbourne’s western region.

Industry Experience

Throughout her career Peta has gained significant experience providing services to clients who are affected by compulsory acquisitions. She also has experience advising on contractual and commercial disputes, director and shareholder disputes and corporate and personal insolvency.

Prior to joining SBA Law in early 2007, Peta was employed by a Melbourne mid-tier firm for seven years where she built a practice in the areas of commercial, contractual and liability disputes which involved acting for the Victorian WorkCover Authority and major insurers.

Peta graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of New England in New South Wales.
